The Kerala HIgh Court on Wednesday granted transit bail to Farmaan Khan, husband of the actor who went viral during Kumbh Mela, in a kidnapping case filed by her father.
This will allow the couple to approach the Madhya Pradesh High Court since the FIR is registered in that State.
The couple got married in March 2026 in Thiruvananthapuram and had been living in Kerala ever since. Subsequently, an FIR was registered against Mr. Khan by the Madhya Pradesh Police, based on a complaint by her father, on charges of kidnapping, offences against SC/ST persons and child marriage. After the actor-woman’s father alleged that the she was a minor, the National Commission for Scheduled Tribe had also launched a probe.
The couple had moved the Kerala High Court with the anticipatory bail plea as they apprehended danger in travelling to Madhya Pradesh, as controversy had erupted over their inter-faith marriage. In a later hearing before the Kerala High Court, they produced records to prove that she had attained 18 years at the time of the marriage.
Madhya Pradesh Police had earlier challenged the bail plea and submitted that the petition should have been filed with the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Later, they also contended that the couple had falsified information to obtain the birth certificate and marriage certificate, and that both these records were forged.
The woman had also filed a petition in the Madhya Pradesh High Court alleging that her father and others had produced forged documents to portray her as a minor as she married a man of another faith.
